In partnership, the Werner Erkes Foundation and the aid organisation Lahai-Roi e. V. have built a boarding school in Victoria (Romania, directly on the Moldavian border) for the benefit and
protection of extremely needy children.
It is owned by the foundation, which also provided the capital in full. The construction was carried out by the Lahai-Roi Association, which also runs the boarding school on its own with financial
support from the Foundation. The building was completed in spring 2020, and after a delay caused by Corona, the beautiful new house was handed over in September 2021 during a small celebration. In
the meantime, 36 girls and boys from precarious family backgrounds are cared for here.
The boarding school is located in the direct vicinity of the day care centre with the address Victoria, judetul, Iasi. The building offers a living space of approx. 850 sqm on two levels and a
sheltered home for approx. 40 children at full capacity. The living space can optionally be extended by building an attic for another 20 children.
We would like to thank the members and friends of the aid organisation Lahai-Roi in Germany and Romania for their great selfless commitment in the planning and construction of the boarding school.
Due to their own contribution, the construction sum could be reduced considerably.
In January 2022, construction of the new sports hall in the immediate vicinity of our boarding school began. In the future, the children will be able to exercise here even in the cold
season.
In addition, this hall will serve as an event location for people from Victoria to the big city of Iasi. Areas for finishing the catering and sanitary facilities are planned. The income from rental
and catering will benefit the boarding school.
